WIP Wednesday: "Hello October" Colourwork Socks

This week's work-in-progress has been on the needles since October the first, and since then it's moved only occasionally and very, very slowly. Why? Well, it turns out I haven't actually spent any time knitting it...

So here it is - one lonely almost-sock:

So far so good.

Just 7 rows to go until the ribbing, then go back and knit the heel, then start the other one. Lovely.

(This is the Hot Waves pattern from The Joy of Sox which I'm (hopefully) knitting for the Ravelry Sock Knitters Anonymous SOCKDOWN Challenge October - under-appreciated patterns)

  1. Beautiful! I am always to nervous to try colour work with sock knitting. I think I shall put it on my 2011 to do list!

  2. I'm all-together nervous of colourwork but there's only 9 rows of real colourwork. I've quite enjoyed playing with this sock and slowly getting the jogless jogs to hide themselves better has made me feel like I've achieved things too. And if you're ever in need of a good sock pattern book, I do think this one is really really quite fantastic - lots of lovely patterns.

  3. Love it. I'm a colorwork scaredy cat, too. But I'm determined to give it a go in the new year. Here's hoping!

  4. Great colorwork! Colors scare me, so I tend to stay away. It looks great.

  5. Wow, I love the waves! That's amazing! I've been eyeing that book. Maybe when I get good enough to knit socks, I'll have to get it. :)

  9. I love the color work, too. Jogless jogs are the best, they make you feel like you're a knitting magician.
