Real Toast

I've just come to the realisation that there is no mention on here at all of the best kind of toast there is. Real toast is made from thick slabs of bread cooked with a fork over a fire. An activity best engaged in with a mug of hot chocolate/soup having come in from a crisp winter's day. Goes well with snow.

It lives!

I do not eat enough toast. I have discovered the toaster in this house (I've been here 8.5 months) - it's hidden in a corner with the fruit bowl. Perhaps I'll experiment soon.

I have however, rediscovered jammy toast! All the toast I've had this year... and I can think of about three occasions on which I've had any at all... have been jammy. Jam is good.

Crumpet Procurement

Actually, I've just realised that's not as true as I thought it was. Lizi made me toast just over a week ago.

Anyway, the exciting side of this is that Graham has agreed to be my Crumpet Procuring person. Woo!

Deviance

Due to the inability of my toaster to make toast that is any colour other than black I have been considering other things to toast:

Fruit loaf - Burns even more than ordinary toast but has sultanas and stuff.
Crumpets - I thought these wouldn't burn because they're thick - ah well!

I'm doing the whole pate on raw bread at the moment, that's not too bad.

Burnt Toast

When I say burnt I don't mean brown, I do actually like my toast toasted. However, my toaster seems to have developed a nasty habit of over toasting. I'm sure it made toast pretty well last year.

What sort of toaster has a dial with numbers up to six when three burns the toast black? What're the other three for? This is true of an awful lot of toasters... logic.

Levels 3-6 good only for setting the fire alarm off. :)

Having said this I think I've pretty much eaten all my slices of burnt toast too.

Tea... and toast

I just fancy a cup of tea right now.

I don't even like tea. It just seems right. Not quite right enough for me to go and make a cup knowing I won't drink more than the first mouthful.

With tea could be toast. The kind that comes spread with jam and butter for those watching the Grand Prix on a Sunday instead of eating lunch. I'm not hungry either but with tea it would be okay.
